Acne Compounded Prescription (Cream/Gel)

Your healthcare provider has prescribed a custom-compounded medication designed to support your treatment.

Important: This product is a compounded medication, tailored to meet your specific needs as determined by your healthcare provider. Compounded medications are not FDA-approved because they are custom-made for individual patients and not mass-produced.

Precautions

For External Use Only: Do not ingest or apply to open wounds.

Avoid Use If: You’re allergic to any of the active/inactive ingredients listed on your label.

Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: Consult your provider before use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Pet Safety: Prevent pets from licking treated areas or coming into contact with the solution.

Sun Sensitivity: This medication may increase your skin’s sensitivity to sunlight. Use sunscreen and avoid prolonged sun exposure.

How to Use

Prepare Your Skin:

  1. Wash your face or affected area gently with a mild cleanser.

  2. Pat the skin dry with a clean towel before application.

 

Application Amount:

  1. Use a pea-sized amount of cream

  2. A pea-sized amount should cover an area roughly the size of your palm (approximately 6–8 square inches).
     

How to Apply:

  1. Dab small amounts of the cream onto the affected area.

  2. Gently spread and massage it evenly over the area until fully absorbed.

  3. If treating larger areas, use additional pea-sized amounts as needed, ensuring even application.
     

Frequency:
 

  1. Apply the medication as directed by your healthcare provider (preferably in the evening).

  2. Avoid overusing the medication, as it may increase irritation without improving results.
     

Post-Application:
 

  1. Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water after applying the cream.

  2. Wait a few minutes before applying makeup, sunscreen, or other skincare products.

Tips

  • Be Consistent: Use the medication as directed for optimal results. Set a reminder for regular application, whether daily or as prescribed.

  • Moisturize: If dryness occurs, use a non-comedogenic moisturizer.

  • Avoid Irritants: Do not use other acne treatments or exfoliants unless approved by your provider, as this may increase irritation.

  • Patience is Key: Visible improvement may take 4–6 weeks of consistent use.

What to Expect

Initial Effects: Some mild redness, dryness, or peeling may occur during the first few weeks.

Long-Term Results: With regular use, acne lesions should gradually reduce in number and severity.

Side Effects

Common:
 

  • Redness, dryness, mild peeling, or itching.
     

Stop Use and Consult Your Provider If:
 

  • Severe irritation or burning occurs.

  • Symptoms of an allergic reaction (e.g., swelling, rash) develop.

Disposal

Dispose of unused medication at a drug take-back site or mix with dirt/coffee grounds, seal in a bag, and trash it.
